About
Rollins College, a prestigious institution in Winter Park, Florida, sought to upgrade its learning environment by integrating cutting-edge technology into classrooms, lobbies, and auditoriums. Systems Innovation was commissioned to design, program, and install AV systems that would enhance the hybrid learning experience and support modern educational needs.
Challenge
The primary challenge was creating six high-flex classrooms capable of blending in-person and virtual learning seamlessly. The goal was to implement an immersive environment using auto-switching cameras and ceiling microphones for effortless interaction between students in the room and online. Additionally, the project included a 13-foot-wide LED video wall in the auditorium and digital signage in the lobby, all requiring integration with Cisco systems—an unconventional choice for such spaces. Tight timelines and the need for hands-free technology further complicated the project.
Solution
Systems Innovation installed ceiling microphones and tracking cameras that automatically adjust based on audio cues, eliminating the need for manual switching. The classrooms and auditorium were equipped with Cisco-based video conferencing systems, integrating writable touchscreens and LED walls to enhance collaboration. The team also installed digital signage in the lobby to provide dynamic, campus-wide updates.
Result
The result was a state-of-the-art hybrid learning environment. Faculty can now seamlessly teach both in-person and remote students, while students experience an engaging and collaborative educational setting. The installation of the LED wall, digital signage, and auto-switching cameras has transformed the campus into a hub of innovation, solidifying Systems Innovation’s role as a trusted partner for advanced AV solutions.
